Willow Tree is an intimate, personal line of hand carved sculptures. Each represents a quality or sentiment that helps us feel close to others, heal wounds, or treasure relationships to living things. Expression is revealed through gestures only... a tilt of the head, placement of the hands, a turn of the body. Each piece is cast from the artist's (Susan Lordi) original carving and then painted by hand. Susan says, "I try to keep the interpretation of Willow Tree open. I hope this makes it more personal, and allows the viewer to decide its meaning."

“I sculpted this piece using my parents as models. When I asked them to sit down and get comfortable, they just seemed to fit together so perfectly. It was such a self - directed pose, as though they’ve been doing it for years - and they have! They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011. The carving on the back is a little added discovery …. ‘I love thee’. I like the sound of the word ‘thee’. It feels poetic and intimate to me." ~ Susan Lordi
