Henschke is one of the longest established family names in the Barossa and the Australian wine industry. Johann Christian Henschke first planted vines in Keyneton in 1861, producing his first commercial vintage in 1868. The tradition of quality winemaking has passed down through the generations – today seeing Stephen Henschke and his wife, Prue, as winemaker and viticulturist respectively.
Matured in 15% new and 85% seasoned (85% French and 15% American) oak hogsheads for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. The Keyneton Euphonium has a very strong crimson colour. A complex bouquet of plums, blackberries, mulberries and cassis with savoury nuances of tar and roasted meats. The sweet, rich and plush palate has a fleshy texture with layers of flavour of great depth and concentration, beautifully balanced with velvety fine-grained tannins and excellent length.
