Bremerton Vintners lies in the region of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain and is known as a cool climate region, relatively disease free and a producer of exceptionally high and consistent quality fruit. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a microclimate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours.
Malbec, a variety once popular in Bordeaux France, is now mostly associated with countries such as Argentina and regions such as Cahors in South West France. Langhorne Creek has a long history with Malbec and the climate is exceptionally well suited to growing premium fruits.
This wine is the result of unique barrels of Malbec fruit. These Hungarian oak barrels have been kept separate, nurtured and tasted many times! The wine is matured for 14 months in these barrels, adding a complementary refined spice note. The maturation was on yeast lees and stirred to give the wine added structure and mid palate fullness.
The Malbec shows an intense perfumed aroma of violets and spice with bramble lift on the palate. It is rich and fleshy with fine tannins.
