Bremerton Vintners lies in the region of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain and is known as a cool climate region, relatively disease free and a producer of exceptionally high and consistent quality fruit. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a microclimate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours.
Winemaking experimentation and a passion for Malbec have led to the development and release of this wine. This 2014 Shiraz/Malbec is a selection of premium fruit sourced from the vineyards at Bremerton. The Shiraz and Malbec parcels were barrel fermented then matured in French oak barriques for 16 months. During this time the yeast lees (bâtonnage) were stirred of the Malbec to provide mid palate complexity and mouth feel.
The nose shows lifted violet spice, complemented by a palate showing purity or varietal fruit. This red fruit and white spice is balanced by the structural complexity of French oak and a textural finish.
